Hãy chọn giá đúng (Choose the Right Price) is the Vietnamese version of The Price is Right {1972 version}, which premiered on VTV3 in June 2004, and is produced by BHD Media. As of 2020, this is one of the longest-running game shows in Vietnam.

So far, only three Goodson-Todman/Goodson shows (The Price is Right {1972 version}, Family Feud & Match Game) have been distributed to Vietnam as this show lasted the longest of all along with Chung sức (Together) while the shortest of all three was Siêu Sao Đoán Chữ (Superstar Guess the Word).

Originally, the show ended in 2016, however, it was brought back since December 2016 due to the cancellation of its replacement show Bàn Thắng Vàng "Golden Goal". In early December 2020, it was announced that a new kids game show Trang Nguyen Nhi "Poinsettia" replaced the show into the 1:00 p.m. timeslot on January 2, 2021, ended its 16-1/2 year run on the air after the 832nd and final episode aired on December 26, 2020.

Game Format[]

One Bid[]

One Bid is a qualifying game, played with four contestants standing at the Contestant's Row. A prize is shown and each player gives a bid for the item. Contestants bid in order from right to left (previously left to right), and must bid as close as they can to the actual retail price without going over. Contestants bid in thousand or million dongs but no hundred dongs and below (as the retail prices are rounded off to the nearest thousand dong) and may not bid the same amount as any player bid previously for that prize. The contestant who bids closest to the actual retail price without going over wins the prize and then gets to play a pricing game. No bonus for a perfect bid in this version. If all four contestants overbid, they all must bid again, lower than the lowest bid. Before each subsequent One Bid round, a new contestant is chosen from the audience to replace the previous winner (new contestants always went first).

In this version there are 4 One Bids, similar to the Australian version.

Pricing Games[]

Each winner of the four One Bid rounds is called onto the stage to play a pricing game to play for a prize or prizes. These are the pricing games that are played in Vietnam:

  • Đếm ngược (Bonkers)
  • Số 7 may mắn (Lucky Seven)
  • Chữ X bí ẩn (Secret 'X')
  • Bàn tay vàng (Punch-A-Bunch)
  • Ong tìm chữ (Spelling Bee)
  • Két sắt (Safe Crackers)
  • Không mà có (Grand Game)
  • Đi siêu thị (Grocery Game)
  • Chơi golf (Hole in One)
  • Con đường may mắn (Golden Road)
  • Sò biển (Shell Game)
  • Zigzag (Plinko)
  • Chú tễu (Joker)
  • Một hàng dọc (Line 'Em Up)
  • Con số may mắn (Money Game)
  • Chạy đua (Race Game)
  • Mạo hiểm (Danger Price)
  • Đồng hồ may mắn (Clock Game)
  • Điểm thưởng (Bonus Game)
  • Xúc xắc (Dice Game)
  • Đổi chỗ (Make Your Move)
  • Túi 3 gang (It's in the Bag)
  • Lựa chọn thông minh (Most Expensive)
  • Chìa khóa vàng (Master Key)
  • Đồng vàng (Pass The Buck)
  • Lá bài may mắn (Card Game)

Showcase Showdown[]

This determines which contestants will compete in the Showcases at the end of the show. There are two Showcase Showdowns in each episode, one each after every two pricing games. The contestants are lined up by their winnings (lowest to highest). The object of the game is to come as close to 100 points (1,000,000 dong, about $43) as you can without going over. Unlike the U.S. version, anyone who is over 100 points will not lose the game, but his/her score would be minused 100 points to equal the amount which is less than 100 points (Example: total 2 spins for he/she was 120 points, he/she get 20 points (20,000 dong)). Also, the second and final spinner who have the higher score than the first spinner can choose to either stay with what he/she landed on to advanđe in Showcases or spin again to try to get the 1,000,000đ bonus.

Since July 28, 2018, a contestant in the first Showcase Showdown would draw one of the two cards, with the following rules:

  • There are two cards, one conceals the show's logo with a picture of the Big Wheel, and the other contains a smiley Emoji face.
  • If it is the show's logo card: The contestant will win an increased prize of 10,000,000đ (about $429) if he/she can get 100 points in the first spin.
  • If it is the smiley face card: If the contestant get 100 points in the first spin, he/she will win 1,000,000đ and can decide to hug someone on the stage (can be the host, the announcer, the model,...).
  • The bonus is applied for all contestants who have won their way up on stage in the day. Only one contestant can win the bonus. After a contestant win the bonus of the day, all remaining contestants (if any) will only spin for 1,000,000đ.

The Showcases[]

The two qualifying contestants are shown a large prize package, and both contestants have to bid to the price of the showcase. If neither contestants meet the range (different for each episodes usually between 1,000,000đ to 3,000,000đ), both lose and the losing horns are played. If both contestants meet the above criteria, the contestant bids closer to the actual retail prize without going over wins the Showcase. It is possible for two contestants to bid exactly the same amount and both meet the range above, in this case two contestants both win and share the prizes.

Trivia[]

  • In 2016, the show originally was replaced with the short-lived game show Ban Thang Vang (Golden Goal), however, it was re-replaced with HCGD in the same year.
  • This was the only international version of Price to still use the "Come on Down" theme from 1976 along with many of the 1976 Edd Kalehoff cues. Australian cues is also used in this version. Starting from Tuấn Tú and Hoàng Linh's tenure, some music from the Kirby games can be heard during the show.
  • As of the inflation rate in Vietnam, so that cars usually have six or seven digits in the price, so that the five-digit prizes are usually small prizes.
  • In 2020, the show was replaced by Trang Nguyen Nhi "Children's Poinsettia".
